9.X Artifact

Share your proposed leadership plan to invite feedback from peers on the MTEL course. This proposed leadership plan will highlight how you will contribute to improvement of teaching practice through professional collaboration, leadership and undertaking responsibility in the context of curriculum and speciality areas. Develop, apply and evaluate leadership and collaborative factors to create a leadership plan that contributes to effective practice in the context of your curriculum and specialty learning area/s. In the additional description of the plan you should critically analyse the factors that support collaboration, leadership and undertaking responsibility in your context, and how you used these to inform and apply your plan.

9.1 Formative Proposal

9.2 Summative Artifact

Marker's Notes: Kia ora Jessica. Your leadership plan shows a good understanding of Kotter’s 8 Step Model for Leading Change. Your actions at each step of this model are well articulated and critically evaluated in relation to the outcomes of implementing your plan. At times your use of this model is more theoretical than practical, for example when you talk about using a Volunteer Army details of who these people are and how you will recruit them are lacking. However, overall the result of implementing this plan has clearly been highly effective. This is a strong submission. Well done Jess.

10.0 Presentation

Create a presentation that demonstrates an in-depth understanding of practice-level leadership and collaboration approaches in teaching practice. Critically analyse the factors that support collaboration, leadership and undertaking responsibility in the context of curriculum and specialty area/s. Evaluate the strategies to coordinate leadership and collaboration in and between different learning environments and apply these in your setting.

10.0 Summative Presentation

Marker's Notes: Kia ora Jessica. Your presentation demonstrates your in-depth understanding of leadership and collaboration approaches in teaching practice and you discuss and critically analyse these in order to make decisions throughout your leadership project. You also discuss and analyse strategies that contributed in the application of your plan and but they aren't fully developed or specifically linked to your teaching practice in any detail. To improve, your should have been more specific about how the plan relates to your curriculum area and give specific next steps which are evaluated and critically reflected on in some depth. This is a considered and interesting discussion which just needed some specific details outlined in more depth. Ka pai to mahi!

11.0 Collaboration

Contribute to a peer’s artifact by providing critical feedback and then reflecting on the quality of the feedback you have given through the rubric.

Marker's Notes: Kia ora Jess. The feedback that you have provided for Alice focuses both on supporting her in refining both her concept and her leadership plan. Your feedback around her use of the Diffusion of Innovation Curve and specifically how to lead Early Adopters more effectively was particularly beneficial in this process. The critique of your feedback then focuses on how you could have supported her further through encouraging her to apply a wider range of leadership theory and helping her to define and understand these better. We also appreciated the debate on whether feedback should include opinion or be led by theory. This submission shows that you have a robust comprehension of multiple leadership theories, understanding of the feedback process itself, and the ability to apply leadership principles to practice. Well done.
